Inflorescence 3-flowered, terminal and with paired 1-3-flowered branches from up to 8 nodes, the whole narrowly cylindric to spiciform; bracts and bracteoles ovate to triangular-ovate; peduncles 0.5-6 mm. Pedicels 1-2 mm. Flowers 5-6 mm in diam., ?funnel-shaped; buds ovoid, apex acute. 개요
습지에 자라는 여러해살이풀로 지하경이 발달한다. 줄기는 높이 15-55cm, 가지가 갈라지기도 하며, 아래쪽은 붉은 갈색이 돈다. 잎은 선형 또는 좁은 타원형으로 길이 1.5-6.7cm, 너비 0.6-1.5cm, 가장자리는 밋밋하고 조금 말리며, 밑은 아래쪽으로 흐르고, 뒷면은 회록색이다. 잎자루는 없거나 매우 짧다. 꽃은 6-8월에 줄기 끝과 상부의 6-11개 마디에서 1-3개씩 달리며, 흰색, 지름 5-6mm이다. 오후 2-3시경에 활짝 벌어진다. 수술은 9개, 암술은 1개이다. 열매는 삭과이며, 난형으로 길이 7-8mm이다. 우리나라에는 제주도에 자라며, 세계적으로 인도, 중국, 타이완에 분포한다.
